It will be a double treat if you can spot this ice cream shop and have a scoop of their delicious ice cream. This has become popular around the world for their unusual but exotic array of over 50 different ice cream flavors. The shop is called Heladeria Lares. It is located in Lares, a small mountain municipality located in the central part of Puerto Rico’s western region.

When I say exotic flavors, I am not talking about passion fruit or bubble gum. I am talking about flavors that you would have never imagined in your wildest dreams. They serve flavors like beer, cod liver, chicken, swordfish, rice and beans, garlic and many more – unusual flavors but yummy! All Heladeria Lares ice cream is home-made, and the most selling flavor is…corn.

More About Heladeria Lares & Their Ice Cream

Besides the ice cream being all home-made, you can get the traditional ones you know and love (like cookies & cream, strawberry, vanilla or chocolate) to the exotic ones you probably never though of like carrot and sweet potato. The ice cream names at the store are in Spanish but not to worry, the ice cream scooper will translate them for you. You will be happy to know that they will give you two free samples before you make your decision. So as you may have imagined, choosing is the hardest part. I mean who knows how the garlic one will taste, I mean I like garlic on my food, but a flavor on ice cream… I might have to think about that one.

You can get your ice cream on a cup or cone for about $3 for 2 scoops
