I was never bored at this large mall. It is one of the premiere attractions in Edmonton, Alberta and also North America’s largest shopping center. So what is so ‘exciting’ about this place anyway? Well let’s see. Between its hundreds of stores there’s an amusement park, movie theater, casino, skating rink, shooting range, miniature China town, indoor water park and rides. It has enough things to keep you occupied for days on end.

History of West Edmonton Mall
West Edmonton Mall was built by the Ghermezian family, and the Mall officially opened in 1981. Built on 49 hectares of land, the West Edmonton Mall was built in four phases. Phase 1 being the oldest, followed by phase 2 in 1983 where it added a NHL size skating rink and Galaxyland Amusement Park. Phase 3 was the grandest because it featured a dolphin pool (presently sea lion lagoon), replica of the Santa Maria ship, and of course the water park. In 1998, phase 4 came, which brought the IMAX theater.
How To Get There
West Edmonton Mall is located on the West end of Edmonton at 8882-170th Street. Once you are in the city of Edmonton, you wont miss getting there. If you get lost, ask few local and they will give you directions with their eyes closed.

West Edmonton Mall has over 800 stores and services to offer you. You might need a check list with this amount of stores, don’t you think? The stores include the first Sephora store in Edmonton and the first Victoria Secret store in Canada. There are other high-end fashion retailers including Lactose, Hugo Boss and Fossil. Services in the mall vary but you can find Marketplace Chapel, Rucallen Shoe Repair and Newcap Radio.

There is more that shopping at the West Edmonton Mall. Main attraction at West Edmonton Mall is the Galaxyland Amusement Park. You can surround yourself with games like whack a mole.
