Being tall is a good thing in most cases. For instance, if you are about 6 feet 9 inches tall, there is a good chance that you can become a famous basketball player. However, 6′ 9″ is too tall to be an airline passenger for Horizon Air. On a flight between Oregon and California, a Horizon Air flight attendant has removed a 6′ 9″ tall passenger from the plane because his legs were blocking the aisle.
Horizon Air Apology For Tall Passenger
The man’s daughter had contacted The Consumerist to post a complaint. Soon after, Horizon had apologized to this very tall passenger. A spokesman for the airline said:
“What should have happened in this scenario is the flight attendants should have asked for passengers seated in an exit or bulkhead row to voluntarily give up their seats to provide the passenger with the much needed leg room he requires. Moving him to a seat with more leg room would have ensured the aisle was clear.”
The tall passenger has anticipated that his seat assignment would be a problem and had contacted Horizon Air in advance to ask to be reseated due to his height. The agent however, has declined his request. To make amends to this unfortunate event, the airline has reimbursed the man with a free future flight.
Airlines provide a service and if they are unfair to the passengers, they will soon find losing customers, especially for domestic airlines. So I hope this will be a lesson for other airlines as well.
It is really nice to know that those airlines are sympathetic to their passengers. Thanks for sharing this info Peter!

I am 6ft 5″ tall and find it very difficult to sit in similar aircraft seats. However, I find AA, BA and Virgin Atlantic very sympathetic to my size and offer a seat with more leg room or an emergency exit seat. However, to remove this chap from the aircraft is awful.

I would have also complained if I had been in the same situation.
I agree with you on the fact that everyone should be treated fairly and equally, especially when it comes to services such as airlines.

The passenger did the right thing of making a complaint. Everyone should be treated fairly and equally.
