Sydney, Australia

Sydney is known to many as the ‘Harbor City‘ and is famous for being extremely multicultural. Its diversity is a huge plus for those looking for a mix of cultures and wide choices in cuisine. On the coast line and in the city of Sydney, there are many parks, which is one of the reasons Sydney is considered so liveable. The famous Bondi Beach is part of Sydney where surfing is very popular. Low unemployment rate and plenty of international companies in the city adds to Sydney being one of the best places to live and work.

Melbourne, Australia

There is no doubt Melbourne is one of the best cities to live in the world because the city has always come up in the top three! Melbourne is often referred to as Australia’s sporting, fashion and cultural capital. Its low crime rate, low terrorism threats and highly developed infrastructure makes it a very livable city. What’s more, Melbourne has warm climate, safe environment and reasonable living costs, which makes this an outstanding place to live, work and study. Attractions include the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne Zoo and the famous heritage sites. Melbourne is also home to Arts Center complexes such as the famous Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Theater Company. Being one of the best cities to live in the world, there is no doubt that Melbourne will offer you just about anything.

Vienna, Austria

Austria’s capital city Vienna ranks as one of the most attractive and best places to live in the world. The quality of life is generally very high throughout Austria. Vienna offers many things to people. It’s a safe city with excellent public transportation network of underground trains, trams and buses. Educational facilities are efficient and available to all. Also, the cultural diversity of Austria contributes to a high quality lifestyle for locals and tourists alike. Being one of the best cities to live in the world, Vienna will offer a thriving economy, stable political system, and of course Austria’s beautiful countryside. What many people would enjoy is the moderate and mild climate. Average summer temperatures rage from 20°C to 30°C and average winter temperatures around 0°C. What more can you ask for?

Sao Paulo, Brazil

When I think of Brazil, all that comes to my mind is beautiful jungles and beaches. All very true, because that is what you will find in Brazil and in cities like Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo is among the cheapest cities to live according to the Economist Intelligence Unit. If you are looking for a place to retire, Sao Paulo would be the ideal place. In fact it is something I’m considering as well. Retirement visas are available with proof of income. It is common and legal for permanent residents to apply for Brazilian passports and keep their current citizenship and passports. Brazilian health care is also very good. You don’t need to be a citizen to use the national health care system. Patients pay nothing out of pocket for most of the health care received. Due to the well-developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing and service industries, the economy of Brazil outweighs other countries in South America, and is quickly expanding its presence in international markets. With all that Sao Paulo has to offer, I can see why it is one of the best cities to live in the world!

Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver is not only the best place to live in Canada but is actually the ‘best city in the world to live in’! Vancouver is a well developed and well established city with brilliant tourism spots, high educational standards and great health care system for people. Vancouver is also one of the greenest cities in Canada, not in political sense but naturally it is green! The summers are mostly warm and sunny, and it stays cool from the precipitation that falls. One thing that will not go unnoticed is the incredible community in Vancouver. People live in harmony, and the high standards of living has been attracting people of all nationalities for decades. Vancouver leads as an example to the world how peaceful it can be with such an ethnic mix. Vancouver will be your home away form home and a city which is close to nature. No wonder the popular TV series Smallville chose this beautiful city for its production and the show’s lead actor Clark Kent / Superman (Tom Welling) decided to move to Vancouver.

Calgary, Canada

Calgary, the city I am from, is rated in the top five cities in the world to live in! It is the largest city in Alberta province, ideally situated on the banks of Bow River and is just fifty miles from the Canadian Rockies. Calgary’s young and diverse population creates a stimulating and vibrant culture, and fuels the city’s dynamic spirit. Calgary’s community is filled with rich arts, culture and entertainment. A great place to live, study, work and play, the city of Calgary attracts people from across Canada and around the world as well. The city has an enthusiastic business culture surrounded by playgrounds of mountains and rivers. Calgary is a city where you can imagine new possibilities and build new futures and live your dream, which is why it has become one of the best cities to live in the world!

Frankfurt, Germany

If you are looking for a certain quality of life, then the place you need to be is Frankfurt, Germany. Frankfurt is the economic capital of the world. According to the Mercer Quality of Living survey, Frankfurt has the highest concentration of jobs in Germany, with 922 jobs per 1,000 residents. The cost of living is high but is compensated with a low unemployment rate, easy transportation and the fact that it is an industrial and financial powerhouse. People in Frankfurt enjoy their city for more than economic security. There are museums, historical sites and shopping districts that are popular among locals and tourists alike. The views along the Main River are lovely, and Frankfurt is home to a number of beautiful landmarks such as the Imperial Cathedral, and the 50-acre Palmengarten Flower Garden. Frankfurt is one of the cities that you can relax for the fullest.

Bern, Switzerland

Being the fourth populous city in Switzerland, it sure has become one of the best cities to live in the world. Bern is a beautiful city with a rich culture, as if it had been pulled directly from a storybook. Why you might wonder? Well Bern is located not far from the Bernese Alps. The city center is nestled in between the banks of the Aare River. That is probably why it is the most beautiful part of the city. While the city’s beauty makes it a great place to live, there are other factors that makes Bern one of the best cities to live in the world. Its low unemployment rate and plenty of job opportunities make it an ideal place to live and work. You can travel there easily by plane from many European countries. Flight will be over before you know it and soon you will enjoying this medieval hideaway just like in a storybook.

Auckland, New Zealand

Auckland is a true paradise. Many of you may know New Zealand for its rugby team – All Blacks. For others, if you have seen any photographs of New Zealand or have seen Lord of the Rings movie, you know what a beautiful country it is. The city of Auckland benefits from being surrounded by water on nearly all sides. Auckland residents also enjoy a bustling and modern city center. An interesting fact about Auckland is, it has the largest population of Polynesian people in the world. It is also home to huge number of immigrants from relatively nearby Asian countries. This fantastic blend of cultures make this metropolis a place with plenty to offer for both residents and visitors. The low unemployment rate and high salaries only help to increase the popularity of this gorgeous city. Auckland enjoys a relatively temperate climate year-round. Being a beachfront city, there are number of sailboats in various harbors around Auckland, which gives the name ‘the city of sails‘. Sailing and yachting are some of the favorite pastimes, though huge amount of open park spaces are available in and around the city to play the country’s most popular sports – rugby and cricket. If you want to daydream and sail away, Auckland is the ideal city for you.

Miami, USA

What really is the best city to live in the United States? I’m sure you will say that your city is the best, which is true, but one of the best cities to live in the world is none other than Miami, Florida. Miami is known as the ‘Magic City‘ for a good reason. With the sensual Latin flavor combined with its tropical location makes it a happy, relaxing place. This sunny city is bursting with new developments, has surprisingly low rent and taxes, and an exceptional education system at the University of Miami. One thing that Miami offers that other states do not is their real estate sales. Miami real estate sales outperforms the rest of the country. That make sense because lot of people flock to Miami as it is one the best cities to live in the world.

I agree with you about Sydney! I used to go there every summer to visit my relatives. It’s so awesome. I’m just surprised that Salzburg didn’t make it to the list, though.
