Oyster Festival In Stone Street New York

Do you love eating oysters? And without traveling to a tropical destination at it? Well then here’s another reason why you would love New York. September is the popular oyster season in New York and this year the Big Apple celebrates 8th annual Stone Street Oyster Festival. It is America’s largest outdoor Oyster Festival. You can enjoy this all day event filled with music, contests, beer and of course tons of oysters on the 17th September. It will also offer a mixture of activities to entertain the whole family.

The outdoor oyster festival starts at noon with live bands playing at 2:00pm. You can slurp oysters outside until 11:00pm, at which point the party moves indoors for…yes, you guessed it…more beer and oysters! Prices are reasonable as well with $12 for half a dozen oysters and $7 for a pint of beer. Last year over 5,000 people showed up in Stone Street New York and they shucked a whopping 23,000 oysters! This year you can join the army of oyster lovers to help beat last year’s record. It will be so much fun.

If you are not in the New York area, no worries. There are other Oyster Festivals happening across USA in September and October. You are bound to be served dozens of unique oysters!

It says here that the Oyster festival this year (2012) is September 17th, it’s a Monday, I was under the impression that the festival is usually held on a Saturday. Please advise. Thank you.
