Poutine, The French-Canadian Side Dish

Having lived in Canada, potatoes are seen at every dinner table, and it is made in every possible way imaginable… mashed, fried, boiled…you name it. But poutine tops it all on my list. Poutine is a French Canadian side-dish, which comes loaded with flavor and calories. So what does it include, you may ask. It is made with thick cut french fries, deep-fried to a crispy golden brown color, and adding handful of fresh cheese curds that has been smothered in rich brown gravy. Isn’t that mouth watering or what?

There are a few places that I have tasted poutine – NYF, A & W and Burger King. It’s available in any restaurant in Calgary, Canada – my home town. If you ever visit Canada, don’t forget to try poutine. If I had the chance to get one right this moment, I would. That’s how much I love it. Last but not least, if you know any great poutine recipes, don’t forget to share it in the comments section.
