2011 might be in the dust but how can we forget the great travel moments that made us laugh, cry and made our jaws drop to the floor? 10. The Royal Wedding

The Royal wedding was one of the best travel moments the world paused everything for. The Royal Wedding of Price William and Kate Middleton was a great moment in history. The world anxiously waited with high hopes of another Charles and Diana fairy tale wedding. Well, that wish came true when dashing Prince William and beautiful and elegant Kate Middleton captivated the audiences around the world.

9. Final US Troops to Leave Iraq

On December 31st, 2011, the remaining 40,000 US troops returned home from Iraq. This ends the long stretched war in Iraq, which began in March 2003.

8. Arnold Gets His Own Museum

We all know him and love him – Arnold Schwarzenegger aka The Terminator! Oh yes, let’s not forget about the bodybuilder and former Governor of California. Now Austria has a museum dedicated just for him called ‘Arnie’s Life.’ You can find a Herculean statue of the throbbing muscle man, which is so famous among everyone.

7. Spaceport America Opens

Travel moments aren’t always on earth. British billionaire Richard Branson opened the main terminal hanger facility of Virgin Galactic – our gateway to space. The company hopes to complete its test flights by the end of 2012 with commercial voyages following soon after. Anyone got a spare $200,000 for a ticket? Hopefully this is a return fare.

There are 7 wonders of the world but now comes the 7 wonders of nature. They are: The Amazon, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo, Puerto Princesa Underground River and Table Mountain.

Where ever you go these days you need to check your emails or be connected to some kind of a social network. The site WeMakeCoolSh.it created a Wi-Fi network for New York City L train. 4. 7th Billion Baby(s) Born

The 7th billion baby to born was one of the travel moments every mother and father can remember. Names of babies spread like wildfire on October 31st, 2011 with babies born and hopes of officially becoming the ‘7th billionth baby.’ This is truly a travel moment families all over the world will remember.

3. Surfer Rides A 90 Foot Wave

Who can forget the incredible footage of Garrett McNamara riding a 90-foot wave off the coast of Portugal? Prior to this, the longest wave claimed to have been surfed was 80 feet. Check out this video to see it. That is one of the most amazing travel moments of 2011 for sure.

2. All Blacks Win Rugby World Cup

What a thrill for the hosting country to come out on top and win the Rugby World Cup. It was a nail-biting victory in Auckland Eden Park Stadium and the game finished 8-7 against France. All the travelers who went to watch the game in New Zealand will surely remember this great travel moment.

In June, Pope Benedict XV1’s first tweet announced a Vatican news site. His Holiness said “Dear friends, I just launched News.va Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI”. Bless!
